Maca Mocha Smoothie

Sure, I gave up caffeine, but I still crave coffee all. the. time. Every once in awhile I will indulge in a few sips, but mostly I stay away and choose healthy caffeine alternatives like herbal chai or herbal coffee. But a few days ago, inspired by super warm weather and a load of frozen bananas that needed to be used up, I combined all my favorite no-caffeine goodies into one awesome smoothie that I am calling the Maca Mocha Smoothie. And that’s what you will surely call it too, because despite the fact that there is no caffeine, this smoothie has some BUZZ! It’s only kinda a smoothie, because it’s not blended with ice or frozen fruit. But what else to name it?!

Maca, my favorite superfood, is a potent supplement that helps with energy boosting, adrenal support and stress relief. Chocolate has a good amount of theobromine, a stimulant that makes us feel amazingly and peppy. Finally, Dandy Blend, an instant herbal coffee that mixes into cold or iced beverages and also provides a little boost along with the healthful benefits of dandelion root. Natural sugars from banana and some extra love from vanilla powder and you are good for hours of continued energy and happiness!

Maca Mocha Smoothie

1 small banana
1 cup plant-based milk or water
2 Tablespoons Dandy Blend instant herbal coffee
1 Tablespoon maca powder
1 Tablespoon cocoa or cacao powder
pinch vanilla powder (optional)
Ice

  1.  Add all ingredients except ice to a blender. Blend until totally smooth and creamy.
  2. Pour over ice and stir to cool off. Enjoy immediately!
