Here’s a sweet video recap of Wanderlust 2015 for your viewing enjoyment.
Last weekend I attended my third Wanderlust Oahu, a yoga and music event that graces our sandy shores just once each year. Bringing together yogis, musicians, artists, dancers and wonderful people of all kinds, Wanderlust is truly an enchanted weekend of blissed out fun.
This year work keep us busy for Thursday and Friday, but on Friday afternoon we packed the biodiesel Jetta and headed north. We camped at Malaekahana state campground, just a short drive or bus ride away from Turtle Bay, where the festival is held. We met a bunch of other Wanderlusters at the campground, and hitched a ride to the first night. We were blessed with a super fun music show featuring local artists and Nahko and Medicine for the People. An amazing show filled with good vibes and lots of love (and only a little bit of rain!). Beers, good friends and dancing rounded out the night. The next day we were up not terribly early, but made it to two classes before heading to a friend’s rented condo for a mini pre-party before the Brett Dennen show later that night. More beer, dancing and fun, including a very late night at the Wanderlust club with DJ Drez. No surprise that Sunday morning was also not an early one, but we made it just in time for two more great classes, including a Thai Yoga massage (practiced giving and receiving with my sweetie and my friends), and a fun Bob Marley-infused Shiva Rea class in the sunshine to close the festival.
I’ve not been to other large festivals, so I can’t really compare it Burning Man or whatever, but Wanderlust is just such a fun break from real world that feels like a vacation but also feels so REAL. As I wrote about in my How to be Happy post, dancing and yoga is when I am able to find my true flow, and thus I feel entirely grounded and great when celebrating yoga with good people for days on end.
If you missed Wanderlust Oahu, don’t despair: there a many other festivals and Wanderlust events available across the country this upcoming season. Stratton, Snow Shoe, Aspen, Squaw Valley and more are there to bring love and light into your life.
